Blair Chiropractic Technique

What is Blair Chiropractic Method?

Blair chiropractic method is a specific chiropractic technique used to analyze and address upper cervical vertebrae misalignments. Specific protocols were established that theoretically correct UC misalignments, as measured through radiography. Blair Technique addresses subluxations in the cervical spine from C1 to C4. Misalignment in these vertebrae can affect the brain stem and spinal cord. Blair technique is not a typical “cracking” adjustment used by most chiropractors. The technique uses the least amount of force, is very precise and is only used when the body is out of alignment.

UC misalignment correction may have the greatest potential in modulating afferent input into the central nervous system via this mechanism, which is measured as a decrease in symptoms.

How to know when and when not to adjust:

Initial appointment involves a 3-D image of where the skull meets the neck to warrant treatment and know precisely how the body needs to be adjusted.  This specificity of the 3-D image makes the adjustment very effective at restoring posture and relieving pain with the least amount of force.

Some health issues that have shown benefits:

  • Chronic headaches/migraines
  • Neck/back pain
  • Herniated discs
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Post-concussion syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Parkinson’s disease

The end goal is to align the upper cervical vertebrae and improve the body’s ability to hold the correct alignment for as long as possible without needing to be further adjusted. Specific exercises may be given to patients to assist with strengthening certain muscles in the upper cervical region to ensure the body holds the alignment as long as possible.

How long do treatments last?

At the beginning of the appointment, the physicians performs an evaluation to determine whether or not treatment is necessary based on the patient’s body alignment and presence of symptoms.

Typical appointments could begin as once or twice weekly and as the body continues to hold alignment with a lessening of symptoms appointments will be spread further and further apart until no more intervention is necessary.
