Dr. Aviva D. Wertkin, N.D. earned her doctorate degree at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2007 and completed a two year residency through National College of Natural Medicine. Prior to medical school, Dr. Wertkin performed clinical research at both the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM).

Dr. Wertkin practiced as a Natural Family Medicine specialist in CT under the mentorship of Dr. James Sensenig until 2014 when she opened her own Naturopathic Primary Care practice, Naturae Medical, in Brattleboro, VT. Her passion is assisting people in restoring their health using scientific evaluations, classical naturopathic therapies and addressing the emotional, spiritual and energetic components of illness. Dr. Wertkin was voted the Best Physician in Brattleboro for 3 years in a row until she closed that practice and relocated to Portland Maine. She has since relocated to Louisville CO and continues to assist people as a Natural Medicine Specialist.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Wertkin was an adjunct faculty at the Univ of Bridgeport's Naturopathic medical school and was one of the founders & faculty members of the Naturopathic Medicine Institute. She is a frequent speaker at various conferences and continues to be a guest at WVEW 107.7 FM Brattleboro community radio. Since moving to CO, she has also co-founded the CO Chapter for Children's Health Defense.

Dr. Aviva is so intuitive, smart, kind and caring, gentle. I started 10 months ago and I've lost 44lbs because of her testing she does that uncovered food sensitivities, etc. Out of all the MANY Dr's I have been to Dr. Aviva really helps the body to peel back the layers to get at the root problem. I just know in my heart this time I will FINALLY! find healing. I travel an hour and it is soooo! worth it. I am so truly grateful to you both!

Dr Aviva has been a godsend to my family. I have an immunocompromised child and she has peeled back layers of health problems to get to the root cause. She has been a true partner in my child's healthcare leveraging all her knowledge to keep him as healthy as possible. I owe so much to her for the research she does between lab work and symptoms. Seen her for over a year and a half and couldn't be happier with the care we receive.

When I first walked into Dr. Aviva's office (which was difficult in itself, as I was barely able to walk) I was defined and debilitated by chronic illness. I thought the best I could hope for would be better management of my symptoms. But Dr. Aviva is a uniquely gifted healer of the body, spirit and soul. Just a few short months later, I already feel better than I ever thought I could, and am on a multi-level road to recovery that is paved with more strength, confidence, health, and hope than I could ever have imagined.

I asked Dr Aviva if she could help me with my insomnia and chronic fatigue. Just like with my digestive concerns, I had tried every medication possible and still barely slept and also felt painfully exhausted. When the prescriptions hadn’t worked for me, the doctors labeled me with anxiety and depression and tried several different psychiatric medications as well. I told them I wasn’t depressed or anxious, but they didn’t believe me. When I brought these concerns to Dr Aviva she listened and guess what? She delivered again!! It took a little time to determine the right combination to correct both of these problems, but she did it! She had me do testing to evaluate for things no other doctor had mentioned before and she figured out what was causing those problems. And what she recommended really worked! I highly recommend Dr Aviva and her naturopathic approach. Dr Aviva’s diligence to her work has truly been life changing for me.

I wish I had the words to adequately convey how much it means to me to participate in Dr. Aviva's program. I have been given total support in the form of supplements tailored to my needs, referrals to additional healers appropriate for me, and personal communications with Dr. Aviva to heal all aspects of my being.
