Since 1984 Dr. Fein's mission has been to explore the relationship between infectious and auto-immune diseases. In her 30 years of experience she has seen many patients previously diagnosed with auto-immune diseases, Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome with underlying chronic infections. A finding validated by peer-reviewed medical literature. As a Rheumatologist and Internist she has become one of leading doctors in the country for the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme, Bartonella, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and other infection related chronic illnesses. For example, she was the first to report cases of Bartonella in patients with Lyme Disease, and proposed it was a tick-borne infection.
In addition to her practice Dr. Fein has appeared as an expert in various mediums. Dr. Fein co-authored Beating Lyme Disease, wrote the forward to Confronting Lyme Disease and was featured as a top diagnostician on Medscape. She has also appeared on Mystery Diagnosis on the Discovery channel.
Since 1993 Dr. Fein has had more than 14 public speaking roles at major medical conferences. She has been a member of the National Lyme Caucus (drafted legislation to create a national committee for Lyme), the National Health Legislation Task Force, and an Advisor to the Lyme Disease Foundation. In 2008 she was the Master of Ceremonies at a landmark conference bringing together practitioners treating Lyme Disease as well as those treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for the first time. She is both an experienced researcher, through grants from Hoechst labs as well as Pfizer pharmaceuticals, and a seasoned public speaker.
Dr. Fein holds both an MD (George Washington University Medical School) and an MPH (Columbia University). She has been in practice since 1986 and has taught Epidemiology to medical and public health students at Columbia University and Mt. Sinai Hospital. She has also taught General Medicine at Mt. Sinai and NYU. She currently serves as an Adjunct Asst. Professor at Rutgers.

23 years ago after giving birth to my daughter I could not get back on my feet. As the months went on I was progressively getting worse and finally debilitated. I went to specialist's in New York City, Boston, etc. and no one could find anything wrong.
As my condition led to a weight loss from 118 lbs to 93 lbs. I became to weak to walk. I was in a wheelchair and I was continually told this was postpartum depression. The disease progressed to extreme neurological symptoms and I was tested for MS,ALS just to name a few. No answers!
Our baby nurse who was from Lyme Ct. said have you checked for Lyme disease. My husband researched Lyme specialists and Dr.Fein came up as the most profound doctor in the field.
After extensive testing ,blood work, thorough exams etc. She sent my blood work to two or three different labs to measure and compare results and they all measured up the same - IT WAS LATE STAGE LYME DISEASE.
Dr. Fein did not sugar coat these results. We had two choices :
1) Take a less progressive treatment or
2) Go full blast - We choose #2
The treatment was not pleasant and often very frustrating and often still feeling hopeless. In 8 months I was back! Let me just close by saying if you DO NOT follow protocol you will not get well. Dr. Fein saved my life. She is a Lyme Specialist. She gets 10 stars in my book!! There is no one better.
As far as those of you weeping and angry and frustrated I get it!
Please understand you are in the best hands - there is no magic wand. Also, I might add that Dr.Fein is not a psychiatrist. Although she would be great at that as well.Follow protocol and you will get better and the only Dr. you can trust to let you through your very difficult treatment is Dr. Leslie Fein.
I didn't call her everyday with every whining moment.
I simply followed her lead - She was my angel.
She has many sick patients and it's very easy to pick up the phone and call her with every frustrated moment in your journey.Don"t do that!
She has discretion to give my contact information for those that have the willingness to get well and never question her integrity and her.
money grabbing ways - that is FALSE!!! It is SAD and it is Pathetic.
These treatments work, they take time and they are not FREE!

After a severe herx I started to improve.
I felt like I had my life back.
I wish that had been the end of it, but because I had been undiagnosed for so long, the Lyme did relapse.
Though I've had several relapses, and had been rebiten, Dr Fein has always continued to treat and support me throughout. Her knowledge of tick-borne disease and it's treatment is profound, and has helped me to reach a stable point in my life off of antibiotics.
Her willingness to stick with her patients through often long and difficult tick borne illnesses is very special and is rare.

It was a nightmare. Dr. Fein did a ton of testing and not only correctly diagnosed her but created a comprehensive plan for her. Dr. Fein is the most BRILLIANT Dr. in the tri-state area. She is EXCELLENT, Will treat your entire body, cover all bases and is so understanding and compassionate. I recently had lyme and was a mess for 3 weeks bedridden. I emailed her and she squeezed me in immediately. Thank God she put me on the right meds and supplements and 2 1/2 weeks later I’m a different person, I got my life back. I can’t praise her enough! She is a gift to the universe! This doctor makes a difference in people’s lives all day long. She is truly a legend.

Since I have been under Dr. Fein's medical care and expertise, I feel and see glimpses of myself again. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Fein and her staff! I have a healing journey ahead. Experiencing hope and relief from the misery has been life altering.
When it comes to finances, she does not accept insurance plans. Her staff provides the insurance documentation so that I can submit the claims to my insurance company. I have been successful in receiving partial reimbursements from the insurance company for visits.
As a person who has suffered for years and is now reaping the benefits of Dr. Fein's expertise, please ponder these two questions:
1. Can you put a price tag on living a healthy and fulfilling life?
2. Are you willing to live a life without quality of health, happiness, and hope?
I wish you well on your path to wellness and peace!

Prior to seeing Dr. Fein my treatment consisted of a combination of anti-inflammatories, immune-suppressing and immune modifying drugs (including intra-articular steroids) and narcotics, for whole body arthralgia, migraines, joint pain with effusion, back and neck pain, etc. I suffered from chronic knee effusions, which were aspirated and injected multiple times per year, and I had two surgeries on my spine, which in hindsight may have been unnecessary. The combination of disease and inappropriate treatment left me weak and very debilitated, and I was beginning to develop neurological symptoms. I was at my lowest when a colleague told me about Dr Fein, Thank You God🙏
At the very first appointment Dr. Fein immediately recognized my symptoms were consistent with chronic and persistent Lyme disease, even though my Lyme test results were equivocal and/or negative. In addition to Lyme disease, Dr Fein suspected I had a bartonella infection (something no other physician had even mentioned) for which I tested positive. I was treated with antibiotics for bartonella and borrelia (Lyme disease); the treatment was very difficult because I had been sick and immunosuppressed for so long. There were times I wanted to quit, however Dr. Fein coached me through the "side effects" (the inflammatory reactions precipitated by treatment) until I started to feel the benefits. This is just one of many things that sets her apart. Other physicians lacking her experience and insight might tell you to stop treatment, assuming they treat you at all.
Dr. Fein is knowledgeable and always on top of the latest treatments and science, and she has the courage to challenge commonly accepted but ineffective treatment paradigms and fight for her patients. I want to add that prior to treating with Dr. Fein I had seen at least 10 different doctors, probably more, including infectious disease specialists and rheumatologists at university hospitals and medical schools, where I was alternatively diagnosed with PLDS (post Lyme disease syndrome) and a form of rheumatoid arthritis.
